Rae Ellen Smith

Rae Ellen Smith died on September 29, 2023. She is survived by her children Elizabeth,
Jonathan, Samuel, son-in-law Marc, and husband David. Rae Ellen was at home with
hospice care surrounded by family in her final days. For years she had longed to be with
Jesus and is now in His presence.

Rae Ellen was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert and Rachel Holmlund.
Although she never completed a college degree, throughout her life she embraced
continuous learning including Bible, science, homemaking, and teaching. She married
David in 1979 and they moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Rae Ellen’s dream was to be a mother. While doctors told her she would never have
children, God blessed her and David with three wonderful children. Being a mother did
not prevent her from excelling in sewing, cooking, art, community service, and bringing
Jesus love to those around her. Her generosity was amazing.

The family would like to thank Rae Ellen’s heart physician, Heather Johnson, Unity
Hospice and Comfort Keepers employees, and friend Jean Herm for their support and
for helping her to be at home during her last days.

While very engaging, Rae Ellen also had an aversion to being the center of attention. In
respect for her feelings, there will not be a formal funeral. Family members and a few
friends will gather at her home to celebrate her arrival in heaven.
