Raymond Gerald Vogt of Crivitz, Wisconsin, at the age of 85, went to his heavenly home on March 26, 2025. Ray was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 23, 1939, to Max and Elsie (nee Zerbe) Vogt. Ray was adopted into the church by baptism on December 3, 1939 and confirmed in March of 1953. He graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School on June 7, 1957. After graduation, he started working at Bucyrus-Erie in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin until retiring in 1998. He started as a draftsman and worked his way up to a product engineer in mechanical engineering. While he was working, Ray completed a Mechanical Engineering degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College. He married Linda Schroeder on June 17, 1961 at St. Martini Lutheran church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and God blessed them with 63 years of marriage. The U.S. Army accepted Ray into service on June 7, 1962 for six months of active duty as a field communication crewman. Ray continued his service as an active reservist until discharged on January 31, 1968.
Ray was passionate about outdoor activities, including camping, traveling in the motor home, boating, and fishing. He loved tending to his extensive garden, which featured over 35 tomato plants each year, and helped with the seasonal canning. His other interests included playing cards, volunteering with Builders for Christ, and spending winters in South Texas. An avid sports enthusiast, Ray not only attended Packer games but also coached 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball at St. Paul's Muskego. He was known for his enthusiasm in organizing recreational sports, often calling out “Volleyball in five minutes!” before games. In his downtime, Ray enjoyed watching sports and Fox News.
Ray’s family was very important to him; he was a planner and made sure to plan fun activities for the family even up to the end knowing he wouldn’t be present. He loved his family and always stayed up to date with what was going on in their lives.
Ray and Linda were blessed with three children through adoption:
Randall (Monica) Vogt, Pamela Vogt, and Jeanette Tanzer.
They were also blessed with six grandchildren:
Christopher (Ashley) Tanzer, Lindsay (Adam) Sabel, Kyle (Jessica) Tanzer, Nicholas Vogt, Zachary (Elizabeth) Vogt, and Joshua Vogt.
They were further blessed with six great grandchildren:
Madison Tanzer, Hayden Tanzer, Mathew Moriarty, Alivia Tanzer, Millie Sabel, and Natalie Vogt.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Linda; all of his children; grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is also survived by one uncle, Don Peterson; two sister in-laws, Nancy Vogt and Carole Schroeder; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
