Richard “Dick” Messenger, 66, of Lena, WI passed away at home after a long courageous battle with cancer on November 5, 2016. Born in Oconto, WI, he was the son of the late Clyde and Ruth Messenger. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed by his family.
Dick served in the US Air Force following graduation from Lena High School in 1967. He worked in the paper industries for Scott Tissue in Oconto Falls, WI, for 24 years, and at Tufco Technologies in Green Bay, WI, for 12 years until retirement. Dick was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Rosemary "Mimi" Messenger; his children, Richard Messenger, Jr. of Green Bay, WI, Rosemary (Ken) Rosenthal of Sobieski, WI, Heather (Andrew) Kurek of Lone Rock, WI, Jenna (Nicholas) Bain of Green Bay, WI, and Aaron Messenger of Sobieski, WI; grandchildren, Dawson Messenger, Carson Messenger, Emerson Messenger, Grant Kurek, Levi Rosenthal and Luci Rosenthal; and close family friends, Jacalyn and Charlotte LaBre.
A memorial service (with full military honors) for family and friends to celebrate Dick's life will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church (209 E Main St. Lena, WI) on November 15th, 2016. Visitation at 10am and a mass will follow at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Dick.
