With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Lee Seehausen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who left us peacefully on March 28, 2025 at 89 years of age.
Bob was born on November 19, 1935, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, at St. James Hospital. His parents were Albert Ernest and Frances (Shanahan) Seehausen. In November of 1958, he was drafted into the US Army, and served two years as an Army Medic at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged as a SP4 in 1960, and in 1961 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Jeanne Meliza, at the First Presbyterian Church in Chicago Heights. Bob’s principal job for twenty years was as a Tire Inspector for Pomp’s Tire in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where the Seehausens lived most of their lives. For many years, Bob and Dorothy also owned and operated Riverside Management Corporation, a property management company, and when he retired at age 65 in 2000, Bob delivered mail for the US Post Office in Wrightstown.
Bob loved reading National Geographic History Magazine, Agatha Christie novels and spending time with his children and grandchildren. A member of Calvary Lutheran Church since 1993, he sang in both the regular choir and the Boy Choir. He was an enthusiastic participant in Calvary’s Grumpy Old Men group, (aka the Monday Morning work crew) which is comprised of retired members of Calvary who volunteer their professional skills to maintain the church property. Bob is remembered by friends and family as a very kind person, always willing to help others, always cheerful and upbeat.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; daughters Donna Jean Engel, and Barbara Ann (Rodney) Le Cloux; four grandchildren, Madeline Jean and Mitchel Glen Engel, and Samantha Jo and Emma Rose Le Cloux; half brother Ronald Johnson; sister-in-law Cindy Johnson; sister-in-law Mary (Lester) Meliza Berg; niece Vanessa (Jim) Medchill and nephew Stephan (Erin) Berg; two nieces Sandra (Emil) Seehausen Vasek and Cathy (Donald) Seehausen Keene; one nephew Thomas (Mary Jo) Joseph Seehausen; and a host of grand nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by one half brother William (Mary) Johnson; two full brothers, Thomas (Geraldine) Edward Seehausen and Albert (Ella) Ernest Seehausen, Jr.; and half siblings Harold (Minerva) Seehausen; Eleanor (Adrian) Markley; and Vernon (Katy) Seehausen.
Friends and family will gather at Calvary Lutheran Church on Ridge Road on May 3, 2025, from 10-11 for visitation, service at 11, lunch at 12. Bob’s final resting place will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park Cemetery in Green Bay.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate end of life care he received from the doctors, nurses and CNA’s at Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice, as well as the Veterans Administration for their ongoing support.
