Robert J. Jentink

March 31, 1946 — August 11, 2024

Robert (Bob) Jentink, age 78, lost his nearly life-long battle with alcoholism on Sunday, August 11, 2024. He was fortunate to be able to meet his goal of staying in his own home for so many years. He attended Northwood Institute in Midland, MI, and spent a majority of his career in car sales; first in the family business, Jentink Chevy Olds in Brillion, then various dealerships throughout the Fox Valley area. He truly loved talking cars anytime, anyday. His art of negotiation was a part of who he was, and he believed there was always a deal to be made, whether at a rummage sale (a favorite pastime for years), or when buying anything from anywhere. In 2012 he moved to Cecil, WI and was blessed to become a part of a great neighborhood who have been faithful in hanging out with him and keeping an eye on him. His perfectly manicured yard was his pride and joy. No one could ever convince him it was too short. He loved to read and enjoyed book conversations with friends, family, and both of his sisters. Greg Weber was a dear friend for many years, talking cars and birds whenever they were together. Tim and Janine Jandrey also became good friends after meeting in Cecil, one of many he loved to join for a Friday fish fry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Jentink; his mother, Margaret (Peggy) Jentink; a grandson, Alex Konrad; and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his daughters, Sarah (Jerry) Konrad, Jennifer (Erik) Steffen; sisters, Barbara (Richard) Jeske, Jill (Bob) Lajdziak; his grand-children, Kelsey (Jourdin) Thill, Megan (Travis) Jansen, Abigail (Zach) Steffen, Hope (Ashton) Hanson, Anthony (Hannah) Steffen, and his great grandchildren, Zachary and Quinn.

Friends may share memories and celebrate his life with his family at Bob’s home 1 to 3pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Thanks to Connie Radtke who provided support throughout Bob’s adult life. A special thank you to the Shawano County Aging Unit who provided meals to Bob for years, and his driver Pete has a special place in our hearts. We also thank Bellin Hospital for the quality care that Bob received from the ER to the ICU and the medical unit. And last, a thank you to the staff at Unity Hospice, his final days were met with compassionate care and peace at the Meng Residential facility.
