Robert Johnson, 86, Sobieski, passed away on July 13, 2015, from natural causes. Born July 17, 1928, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late John “Al” and Helen (Schmitz) Johnson. Robert served in the Army as an MP stationed in Albuquerque, NM, from 1950 – 1952 during the Korean War. Robert met Peggy Parker in Long Lake, WI and they were married on December 13, 1952. Robert was a sheet-metal worker and welder until he retired in 1990. After retirement, he took up wood-working in his shop. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, children, and close friends.
Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy; 4 children, Bob (Dawn) Johnson of Niagara, WI, Lori (Dave) Goerz of Green Bay, Mary (Rick) Ascher of Little Suamico, and Katie Geurts of Oconto; his 9 grandchildren, Missy (Scott) Heroux, Sara Stilp (fiancé Ruben), Bryan Van Lannen, Rebecca (Jason) Pfeifer, Emily Goerz, Justin Goerz, Abby (Joe) Whitcomb, Jesse Voss, and Dylan Lucas; and his 4 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Madison and Mason. Robert is further survived by 3 brothers, Roger (his twin) Johnson, Ralph Johnson and Buck Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Schmitz; and his sister, Dolly Borremann.
There will be a private memorial service at a future date.
