Robert 'Bob' Kommer found his place of rest on December 31, 2019 from a long battle with CHF. He was born on July 27, 1938 to the late Barney and Ione (Powell) Kommer.
Bob lived a storied and adventurous life. As a proud patriot he served four years in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Harry E. Hubbard DD-748, then worked fifty years as a cement finisher/laborer for the Selmer Company where everybody knew him as Curly.
He was survived by his wife of fifty six years, Jan, his favorite nieces and nephews, Ron and Wendy, Benjamin, and his many, many loyal friends, especially Al, Rick, and his best friend, Joe.
Bob was a sports enthusiast. He was loved by dogs, and he was loved by children, and he never entered a room where he didn’t make a friend.
We would like to thank our neighbors, Russ and Arlene, his special buddy, Felicia, Rich ‘Sarge’ Verheyen, a veteran volunteer whose devotion meant so much to Bob, and his team at Unity Hospice, especially Tara, Lori, Dani, and the many others who cared for him.
Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, but please honor his memory by having a Pepsi, and telling a great story that makes someone laugh.
Memorials will be sent to Unity Hospice.
