Appleton - Ronald D. Bland, Sr. passed away at home with RaNae at his side on May 22, 2018 due to complications from COPD. He was born in Fresno, California on Aug. 22, 1939.
Ron was multi-talented and during his lifetime worked as a Millright mechanic, welder, blacksmith, manager of bars and restaurants, and home remodeler. As a Master Clocksmith he restored the Tower Clock for Boise, Idaho. He was especially creative and talented in woodworking, spending endless hours in his workshop doing what he loved.
Ron came to the Lord late in life and was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in 2015. That same summer he married RaNae Neitzke, which was a match made in heaven.
Ron had memorable bus trips with the Faith Senior group, not once but twice to the Creation Museum and Noah's Ark Encounter. He also really enjoyed the people at the Heart of the Valley YMCA.
Ron's zest for life created his greatest personality trait: his keen sense of humor. He always had a joke and a quick smile and said he always wanted to be remembered with a smile and laughter. For that is how he said he will remember you!
Ron will be sadly missed by his loving wife, RaNae and his son Ronald D.Bland, Jr. of San Clemente, California who loved his father very much. He is further survived by his sister, Marjorie Blankenship, Exeter, California and RaNae’s family; Gordon and Mary Neitzke, Appleton, Ralph and Tina Neitzke, Augusta, Georgia and Donald and Alice Mueller, Clintonville and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
RaNae would like to thank the staff of Theda Care at Home Hospice for the respect and care they showed to Ron.
A memorial celebration of Ron's life will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11am at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale St., Appleton with Rev. Kyle Jones and Rev. Dan Thews officiating.
