Ruby I. Hinkfuss

Ruby Ione Hinkfuss age 87 of Gillett, WI passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, with loved ones after fighting a hard battle with cancer. She was born on January 26, 1937, in the family farmhouse located in Dunn County, WI. She grew up in Springs Brook and graduated from Durand High School in 1956. After graduating from high school, she worked on multiple family-owned farms for many years enjoying her time driving the farm equipment and milking cows. She was proud of the family farm. Ruby left the family farm in 1962 to work in Milwaukee, WI at Allen Bradley and Heartland Plastics where she made small plastic figurines. Later, she moved to Gillett, WI and raised her five children. She worked at Memline Industries in Suring, WI for over 20 years making baby cribs and retired at the age of 62. After retiring she went to work for Seneca during the summer and worked there for more than 15 years. She spent the last few years in life working in her yard planting flowers, spoiling her pets and feeding her birds. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for many years where she was part of the women’s group making quilts and helping with their fall bazaar.

Ruby is survived by her three sisters Virginia, Betty and Mary, two sons Bryan and Jeff, and two daughters Debora and Jodiann along with their spouses. She is survived by her ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father Fred Witt and stepmother Stella Witt, along with her mother Ann Wold and stepfather Edwin Wold. Ruby precedes her four siblings, two brothers James and Richard, along with two sisters Irene and Ramona. She joined her eldest daughter LaCinda in heaven who lost her battle with cancer at the age of 45.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 9th from 10 am – 12 pm. Followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm presided by Pastor Chris Byars at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St. Gillett, WI with a luncheon to follow.
