Stephen Winter Tobey Sr. got his angel wings for heaven on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Aurora BayCare Hospice, Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born January 9, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, son of George Miller Tobey Jr. and Emelie Belle (Fisher) Tobey. He married Marjorie Laila Jones in April of 1953. He retired from The Dow Chemical Company in 1999 as a Research Scientist with numerous US patents, journals, and publications. He and Marjie took up RVing and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother George Alan Tobey (Jean). He is survived by his younger brother William Howard Tobey (Annie).

He and Marjie loved square dancing and eventually moved to Naples, Florida and danced with The Happy Promenaders where Steve served as club treasurer. Summers were always spent on Washington Island, WI his favorite boyhood retreat. He will be greatly missed by his children Bonnie (Bob), Stephen Jr (Kathi), Richard (Sue), and Julie (Chris), granddaughters Jennifer (Steve), Laila (Gavin), Hannah (Jean Francois), Paula (Mark) and Sarah (John), grandsons Christopher, Nathan (Anna), Gabriel, Benjamin, Michael, and David (Angie) and many great-grandchildren and a very extended family including numerous church and square dance friends. Neptune Society was in charge of cremation. Celebration of his life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Aurora BayCare Hospice or Simply Cremation, Green Bay Wisconsin, or a charity of your choice.
