Steven George Farah 1949 – 2024
Steve passed away peacefully on January 25th while being comforted by his sisters, Kelly and Jodi. Steve was number 3 child of a robust family that included 12 children.
After Steve graduated from Premontre High School in 1967, he got involved in Display and Promotional work in retail stores with Cook’s Display Services. He trained and learned much from the Cooks, they helped Steve gain the skill and experience necessary to buy the business from them which he owned and operated for over 10 years. He had a natural spatial awareness in his artistic projects. He went back to school at NWTC and became a certified jeweler. He worked for over 25 years as a jeweler at various jewelry stores throughout Wisconsin, but primarily in Appleton area. He retired in 2015 from Bay Park Square mall after 5 years with the custodial services.
Steve enjoyed shooting pool and dominated in a pool league for many years. He was a sharp cribbage player and played regularly joining many weekend tournaments. He was excellent at both and wouldn’t hesitate in trying to beat you, which he most often did. He was a good sport and an avid Packers fan. He was a caring person who would give you the shirt off his back and often would go out of his way to help those less fortunate than him. He looked forward to meeting for breakfast with his cousins Pat, Mark, and Rick on a weekly basis and would go to any restaurant. Steve could strike up a conversation with anyone and loved to tell long stories. Steve belongs in the category of “good guy”. He had a great way of calling out the obvious with precise timing and he enjoyed using the line “oh well”.
Steve is survived by his four brothers, David, CA; John and Yvonne, FL; Tom and Thaina, Green Bay; Mitch and Susan, VA; and five sisters; Kathy and Steve Lamal, IL; Jodi Allard and John Hiller, Green Bay; Bunny and Barry Peterson, Green Bay; Betsy and Mark Koenig, Green Bay; Kelly and Todd Turriff, DePere. He is also survived by his Uncle Phil, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Joy and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a godfather to three nieces: Jennifer, Jessica, and Tiffany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Fern Farah, sister Judy and brother Jeffery.
A special gratitude is expressed to our sister Kelly who provided for so much of his care and needs over the past few years.
As per Steve wishes, there will be no service, but there will be a Celebration of Life to follow in late spring/early summer.
