Tammy Ruh

Tammy left her pain and suffering behind on December 4, 2023, following a tough, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.  Her grace while facing this terribly unfair fate was admirable.  She proved to be unbelievably strong and extremely pragmatic throughout the fight.

Here are her own words:

I have always been proud to complete a job thoroughly and my final job is to alert all the dear people in my life that my time on earth is no longer.

I was born on March 29, 1960, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to the late Dennis Ruh and Patricia Crittendon.  Strong family ties helped me to grow, learn, and appreciate a day of good hard work. I maintained steady employment throughout my life from age 16 on and now most recently retired from Bellin Health in June, 2023.  It has been through my years of employment that I have gained an enormous number of friends who are treasured, each and every one of them.

I am survived by my son, Dylan Hoff and his wife, Jordan; my loving mother, Patricia Crittendon; my sister, Lisa Ruh-Szady and her husband, Dominik; and my precious second family of aunts and uncles and their families. Most importantly, I will be forever grateful to my long-time partner and now, most recently, my husband, Jeff Minix.  The world is a better place because of him.

I tried to see as many friends and loved ones as I could in the past two months.  I wanted to make memories together with them rather than being remembered too late without them.  I will always be with you, a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other, knowing "You’re never too old to Rock ‘N Roll”.

Tammy was a force of nature, always busy, with a boisterous personality coupled with a hearty laugh, a can-do attitude, a gift for decorating, a green thumb, a love for reading, a penchant for cleaning, a talent for crafting, a generous spirit together with a big heart always ready to help or simply to hug someone in need.  That incredible life force will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to have entered her orbit.  This world lost someone who truly did make it a better place.

Tammy’s final wish, “Please have a big party for me at a bar", will be honored in a celebration of life on what would be her 64^th birthday, March 29, 2024, at one of her favorite places:
