Thomas "Tom" Costello

Thomas “Tom” George Costello, age 85, passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born on December 18, 1931 in Bear Creek, Wisconsin to the late Anita (Lemke) Costello and John Costello. He worked as a draftsman and later, as an engineer, at American Motors, Chrysler, Moore-O-Matic, and Waupaca Elevator until his retirement in 1990. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, time outdoors including hunting and fishing, painting, songwriting and singing with his wife, Nancy. Tom will be remembered for his loving devotion to his family and friends, his wonderful storytelling, intelligence and wit.

Tom is survived by his wife Nancy, with whom he recently celebrated 66 years of marriage; his children Debbie Costello Horton, Linda (Ray) Meckel, Cathy (Dan) Maurer, Tim (Tracy) Costello, Sandy (Matt) Rice, Michelle (Sean) Gahagan and Kelly (Joe) Olson; his siblings Gary (Trudy) Kelly, Diane (Curt) Fuhrman, Dennis (Diana) Kelly, Kathy (Jim) Leiby, Mary Lynn (Tom) Krueger, Christine (P. J.) Nolan, Kevin (Kathy) Kelly. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his father John Costello; his mother, Anita (Costello) Kelly; his stepfather Faustin “Fritz” Kelly; his brother John Costello; his brothers-in-law Rudy Lemke, Bruce Estlund and Doug Estlund; his sisters-in-law Lou Estlund and Sue Kelly; his nephew Chris Estlund; his niece Kelly Feavel, and his grandsons Jay Bradley Rice and Jared Van Horn.

Special thanks to ThedaCare At Home Hospice, especially Sarah, Emily, and Niki for their kindness and compassion. Special thanks also to Pastor Phillip Thompson.

In lieu of a funeral service, Tom has requested a private “celebration of life” party to be enjoyed by family and friends. “See you around.”
