Walter Karnopp

December 1, 1933 — June 28, 2024

Wally Karnopp, 90 of Luxemburg WI died in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ Friday June 28th after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born December 1st, 1933 to Walter Sr. and Louise (Schwartz) Karnopp. Wally attended school in Sturgeon Bay. After graduation he enlisted in the Army and served in Schwinfurt, Germany. When he returned, he worked for Bay Shipbuilding. He then joined the Local 298 Plumbers and Steamfitters union and worked until he retired in 1996. He then drove a cheese route for Renards Cheese for many years after that. He enjoyed working outside and keeping his Harley clean and being with family. Don't forgot the Jack on the rocks. On September 10, 1988 Wally married his sweetheart, Linda (Tassoul). They celebrated a love many would cherish for almost 36 years. 

 Wally is survived by his wife Linda and their children, Lee (Lori) Wessel, Lisa Bader and Dan Braun and their grandchildren: David Wessel, Leslie Wessel, Hannah Wessel, Lindsey (Brent) Bader, Devon Bader, Shannon Spude, Dan (Carrie) Braun Jr and Ashley (Ryan) Vokral. Sister in Law: Judy Wery, Brothers in law Ron (Sandy) Tassoul and Terry (Sharon) Tassoul. Sister in law Margaret Karnopp and many nieces and nephews.

Wally is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Louis Karnopp; brothers, Harvey Karnopp and Ralph Karnopp and sisters Jeannete (Harold) Christiansen, Ruth (Ed) Mantick, May (John) Bowers; in laws Louis and Jenny Tassoul; Brother and sister in laws, Alvin (Rosie) Tassoul, Janet (Marvin) Dequaine, Carol (Wayne) Karas, Arlen Wery and special son in law Dave Bader.

Wally is also survived by his children Dan Karnopp, Peggy Lee and Bill Karnopp

Visitation will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, 3339 County MM Sturgeon Bay WI 54235 on Wednesday, July 3 from 9-11am. with the service immediately following officiated by Pastor Todd Vertz.
