William "Bill" Palin Straub

January 8, 1928 — December 3, 2017

Bill exited this earth plane, Dec. 3, 2017, at the age of 89 from Sturgeon Bay, WI.

He entered this earth plane on January 8, 1928, in Iron Mountain, MI, as the son of Lloyd Jordan Straub, D.D.S. and Lois Wilhelmina Straub (nee Palin).

While here, Bill was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School and a graduate of Colorado College, Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Psychology. While at Colorado College, he became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity (lifetime membership) being the house manager and in charge of their dog, Salty. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee with a Masters in Social Work, Bill also achieved his CADC III.

He worked throughout Milwaukee in social work positions, the last being Social Worker and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor for Belleview/DePaul, Shorewood Heights and ARO Counseling Services. During this period, he was a Field Instructor for UWM social work students and also a guardian for geriatrics with no families. He retired from Social Work, emeritus, in 1994. He continued in customer service in the Deli at Pick ‘n Save of Mequon and Sturgeon Bay until retiring in 2014.

During his social service days, he received recognition for dedication to AARP North Shore Chapter and as a founder of the Alzheimer Male Support Group of Milwaukee. He also served on the Board of We Care Nursing Services, River Woods Condominiums and SAGE.

Still on this earth plane and to be missed by, are: his partner in life and spouse of 37 years, Ronald Peterson; his daughters, Zoe L. Straub and Caroline K. Wirth-Alloy ( Daniel); the mother of his children, Persia Straub; grandchildren, Abby W. Beisner (Timothy), Jacob J. Wirth (Christel) and Pearl Straub; great-grandchild, Jackson Beisner; brother-in-law, Ronald Hall; and especially, Holly Kitty.

Bill successfully kept at bay prostate cancer and heart disease for 20 plus years, always having a smile to greet you.

At Bill’s request there will be no service.

Memorials in Bill’s name may be donated to Bay View Lutheran Church of Sturgeon Bay, WI or to the Alzheimer's Association.
