William Fisher

December 13, 1941 — March 27, 2025

William “Bill” John Fisher, 83, Gillett, Wi passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 with his family by his side after a battle with dementia. Bill was born December 13, 1941 in Kohler, Wisconsin to the late John and Alma (Siech) Fisher. Bill attended Valley Line School and was class of 1960 Gillett High School. When he was young, they lived in Sheboygan, Wi , while his dad worked at Kohler Co. They moved back to Gillett in 1946 to take over the family farm. 

Bill was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Operating Engineers Union 55 years. He started at Zippel Construction while in high school and In the 60’s he was at Super Excavating Milwaukee while they lived in Cedarburg. In 1970 they built their home and moved back to Gillett. He worked in Green Bay for Ed Gersek Excavating over 20 years and 10 years at Ostrenga Excavating until he retired. 

He loved spending time with his family. Whether playing cards at the hunting shack- Are those nickels or quarters?! Or taking fishing trips every summer with his sons and grandsons. He enjoyed dirt track racing, nascar, truck and tractor pulls. He never missed a Packer game with his parents years ago. He loved old country music and attended Porterfield Country Fest. for over 35 years with family and friends. Bill loved his dogs and they never left his side! He was an avid sportsman, taking hunting trips to Montana and Colorado over 30 years. Pheasant season was a family tradition since he was a boy. But deer season and “Friday Before “ were the most anticipated time of the year with family and friends. Bill was involved in many groups over the years. Gillett Sportsman Club since 1959 and serving as president for part of that. He is a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Gillett. A lifetime member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a member of Oconto County Sheriff Assoc.. Bill is a founding member of Stalag 13 deer camp since 1979. Bill was the life of the party! He was a fun loving grandpa and uncle. Always a joke or wise crack. 

Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Candie, his three children, Brian Fisher, Gillett, Wi, Mark (Kelly) Fisher, Suring , Wi, Julie (Jody) Rost, Gillett, Wi., Eight grandchildren, Steve (Hayley) Fisher, Randy(Sheila) Fisher, David (Sammy) Fisher, all of Abrams,Wi Tyler Fisher, Suring, Wi. , Autumn Fisher, Green bay, Wi., Matthew Rost, Andrew Rost and Halle Fisher,all of Gillett. Six great grand= children, Trevor, Molly, Griffin, Grant Skylar and Graham. The mother of his children, Pat Fisher, Gillett, his sister and brother in law, Marion and Joe Kuehl, Milwaukee, Wi. Nieces, cousins and other relatives. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Fisher, his grandparents, William and Natalie Siech, and Sam and Mamie Fisher. His sister, Beverly. Brother and sister in law, Marv and Carol Birr. and great grandson, Jackson. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Alpha Senior Concepts and Moments hospice for their care and compassion for dad. 

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 2:00p.m. Old Still Saloon 11105 Hwy 32N Gillett, WI.
