William Bennet Fowle

William (Bill) Bennet Fowle, 83, of Green Bay, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by his loved ones on May 1, 2024. Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 3, 1940, to parents Milton and Esther (Hennum) Fowle. He is survived by his loving wife (Nancy), two sons (Brian and Eric), two grandsons (Zachary Fowle and David Orner), and numerous nieces and great nieces/nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two elder sisters.

Bill joined the Navy during high school and completed his GED while in the service. Serving on the U.S.S. St. Paul as part of the Admiral’s Fleet allowed him to see much of southeast Asia and Japan. He married Nancy Stepnicka on April 1, 1967, after meeting her at the Jack ‘N Jill Ranch in Michigan during a summer vacation. Bill and Nancy built their first house in Lombard, IL and moved several years later to raise their two sons in Wisconsin’s rich natural and cultural landscape.

Bill was never tied to one job and took full advantage of exploring the many opportunities which were presented to him over the decades. Living in various areas of the State, his work ranged from restaurant management to real estate. But Bill’s favorite profession was working alongside his wife and family as the owner of the Algoma Beach Motel located along the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. Bill lived an active life in retirement – with many winters camping with friends in Miami - and was always kayaking, biking, or traveling with his wife of 57 years.

The family would like to thank Bill’s many friends, neighbors, organizations, and businesses such as the Club ItaloAmericano of Green Bay, and the Glass Nickel Pizza Company, for their roles in making his retirement years enjoyable and fulfilling.

An informal “Celebration of Life” with light food and beverages will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at The Village Grille, 801 Hoffman Road in Allouez, WI from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. All friends and family are welcome throughout the event to remember Bill’s tremendous impact on us all. He will be dearly missed.
