William “Bill” Herbert Gauger, 87, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Autumn Fields Assisted Living of Luxemburg. He was born on March 19, 1930, in Green Bay, WI to Herbert and Cora (Zill) Gauger.
Bill graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI. He served in the Air Force from 1948-1951. On September 26, 1958, Bill married Rita Saphner in Michigan. He sailed on the Great Lakes for the C. Reiss Coal Company from 1953-1969 and with the Medusa Cement Company from 1969-1988, before retiring to Marathon, Florida where he lived until 2016.
Bill is survived by a sister, Carol Hanson, Madison Wisconsin; sons Todd (Penny) Gauger of Walworth, Wisconsin, Scott (Anndrea) Gauger of Dyckesville, Wisconsin, and Ross (Shari) Gauger of Slidell, Louisiana ; five grandchildren, Dan (Amanda), Molly (fiancé Steve), Ben, Brandon and Cheyenne; 5 great-grandchildren; cousin Leroy Zill of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and four nephews.
Bill intensely enjoyed the Packers, attending many games including those at City Stadium, the Ice Bowl and Super Bowl II in Miami. He enjoyed fishing and diving and was hands on in a lobster business in Marathon Florida. He liked to have beers with his veteran friends at the American Legion Post 154 in Marathon.
He was preceding in death by his wife and his parents and in-laws.

Simply Cremation is assisting the family with the arrangements.
According to Bill’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
