William Martin, 85, of Green Bay, passed away November 17, 2022 at his assisted living
home in Allouez. He had been suffering from the effects of a debilitating stroke since
January of 2021.
William was born in Michigan on April 8, 1937 to Herbert and Margaret (Morris)
Martin. After living in Michigan and Iowa the family settled in the Green Bay area and
William graduated from West High School in 1955. He remained single until 1976 when
he married Nancy Van Hoosen Maloney.
William is survived by his brother, Roger Martin and special friend Dawn Day, and
many nieces and nephews. He also had four stepchildren, Theresa Ward of California,
David Maloney of Texas (passed in January 2021), Daniel Maloney of Green Bay, and
Gina Stiemke of Florida. He had several step grandchildren, great and great-great
grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 1991, also his parents, Herbert and
Margaret Martin, his sister Elaine Cole, and brother Gilbert (Woof) Martin.
Bill worked from the time of his high school graduation until retirement with the WI
Department of Transportation-a total of 37 years. Bill, or Willy, as some called him
loved cars-having over 60 of them at his home in Hobart at the time of his stroke. He
was a member of the Hillcrest church of Christ for many years. He enjoyed breakfast
outings with his friends and liked to tease the waitresses!!
The family wishes to thank the caring nursing staff at Allouez Parkside Village and the
wonderful hospice nurses who attended him in his final days.
